Paige the Shoe Queen

We would like to think we're raising the perfect adult. Everyone thinks their child will be perfect, and we're no exceptions. Paige will be tall (approximate adult height is 5'10), will probably have big boobs, is cute (everyone says so) & is smart beyond belief. So far she's a reader (good thing being named Paige), likes to watch SciFi, likes Marvel comics movies & most forms of music. She also has a love of Mickey Mouse, dolls, cars & trains. She'll learn to be a good cook from Daddy & how to balance the checkbook from Mommy. Overall, we think she's pretty rounded. We think some guy is going to be pretty damn lucky in about 25 years.

Then, there's her weakness: shoes. Paige was less than a year old when she realized what shoes were. She got dressed & I put new shoes on her. Daddy & Aunt Wii told her how pretty they were. That did it. Ever since then she's had a shoe fetish. She gets a new pair of shoes and has to show them off for days. She will put her foot out, pointing her toe and command you to look at her new shoes. You are required to ooohhhh and aaaahhhh at these new shoes. If you do not, she will continue to show you her new shoes until you do. And just because you've seen the new shoes today doesn't mean you won't be shown again tomorrow. New shoes are worn daily for at least a week. And they are considered new shoes as long as Paige says they are. She will also tell you who bought her new shoes.

In preparation for writing this post I gathered up all of her shoes to count & take a picture. I just got up to count my shoes for comparison. Paige has 13 pair of shoes. That's 13 pair of shoes that currently fit her & that she wears. Granted, it's almost winter and the summer shoes will go away. But still, 13 pair of shoes. I only own 21 pair, and my feet haven't grown since 7th grade! Here's the proof:

If you look closely at the pink glittery on the bottom right here you can see how loved these have been. In every size she wears we have to have 2 shoes: sparklies & pink Converse. Please ignore my craft basket mess in the upper corner. Just pretend you don't see it. :) There are 2 pairs in here that Paige doesn't even know about yet. The brown boots on the bottom left are for her Halloween costume. We'll give them to her then. Then in the top portion there's a pair of brown Mary Jane's. I got those to go with skirts & dresses this winter. I try to space out giving new shoes so that she gets maximum "new shoeness" out of each pair.

I know this can't be normal for a 2 year old to have 13 pairs of shoes. How many pairs do your kids have?

Wowee! I'm jealous! Sylvie has exactly ONE pair of shoes that fit right now. This summer she had a pair of sandals (barely fit from the year before), her daily shoes, a pair of fake crocs (that don't fit anymore). She also has a pair of ballet slippers she loves to wear. That's it! One pair! Oh, and I have about 10 pairs. Logan has three pairs in various half-sized increments. Two are identical and one is new but I think they are too big still.

That is too funny! I knew she had a shoe fetish but didn't realize she was a 2-year-old Imelda Marcos. ;) Very cute!!

Ana has 3 pairs right now--1 pair are sandals that are her previous size but can still be worn since they're sandals--but it's getting colder so those are about to be retired.

I have...way too many (over 25 I think, and that's after getting rid of some recently.)

Imelda Marcos...buwahhahhaaa.

She definitely has me beat. And at one time Emma could have given her a run for her money, but the rule is now that because she leaves the thousand pairs she owns laying all over the house, we made her wean it down to three pairs. *sniffle* Poor deprived soul.

Yes, I do realize she's the 2 year old Imelda Marcos. I gave her the brown Mary Janes yesterday. She wanted to wear a skirt & it was a bit too chilly for sandals.

Caroline- How dare you make Emma give up her shoes? Bad Mommy! LOL

Sara (the 1yr old) had TONS in the size 4 variety because they were given to us. Now she doesnt have so many. My kids go through shoes like candy though. They don't last long on their feet before they need new ones. I think we have the same pink sparkly shoes (are they princess ones?) and the slip ons at the end with the polka dots, we have those too for both my 4yr old and 1yr old.

Well, Jack is a boy and only one year old so he has two pair at the moment. Tennies and a new pair of boots for winter.

My 13 year old boy, on the other hand, is the male Imelda. He currrently has 7 that fit. He LOVES him some shoes. On his christmas list?? Shoes.

My other boys have one each and don't give a hoot.
